EnAbling Dream Careers for those with Neurodiversity
Mattie loves baking and wanted to start up his own business of baking biscuits but didn’t know where to start.
He contacted EdAble to see if they could help support him and they said sure! Anyone with a disability can come to us.
EdAble talked with Mattie about the amount of time he had available to bake, helping him plan a strategy. EdAble also brainstormed business name ideas. The name, 'Social Moments' came about in relation to how people enjoy a cuppa with a bickie in hand and enjoy a social moment. Just like Mattie, this micro-business would offer him many 'social moments'!
Mattie needed help to build a website, advertising, packaging, to manage money and anything else that goes into building a quality micro business.
Mattie was involved with some of the market research. He went, with support, to various cafes to list the types of biscuits cafes sold, the price range, the quantity and demand. Working with the research results, EdAble worked with Mattie to work out the which biscuits he liked to bake for his micro-business.
EdAble supported Mattie with a number of trial biscuits for the market, deciding on the best recipes to bake to meet the demand.
With EdAble’s help, Mattie now sells and delivers his quality biscuits to the best cafes. He hopes one day he would be able to expand and employ others!
Mattie hopes that when people see how much fun he has had at 'Social Moments', they will speak to EdAble and set up their own business, just like he did.
